Gaslighting & grey rocking & guilt-tripping, oh my!

Does any of this sound familiar . . . ?

You’ve spent your hard-earned cash (and time!) on the whole  therapy thing, but your mom is STILL up there living rent-free in your head.

No matter how much you educate yourself about narcissism or emotionally immature parents or [insert here another label] you can’t shake the I-must-be-overreacting mind maze.

Setting boundaries with her hasn't made you feel better. If anything, you actually feel worse.

The last thing you ever want to do is make the same mistakes she did as a parent or partner.

. . . If so keep reading because helping cycle breakers snap out of the mother wound funk and write a new legacy is what I do.

But lean in for some real-talk . . .

Finding the right self-help books to read and the right disorders to label my mom with and the right accounts to follow . . . None of these are how I was able to flip the switch from mother wound misery to mastery.

I didn't need to find something outside of myself. I needed to come home TO myself.

Since then I've taught hundreds of clients how to do the same. Now it's your turn.

The problem is:

BUT–what they fail to recognize is that shining the spotlight on your mom is the problem all over again.

You've spent enough time focusing on your mom. It's time to invest in you.

Two girls on a path

Healing the mother wound isn't about diagnosing your mom. It's about finding your way back to yourself.

^^ While my mom was busy doing the same old hurtful stuff she's always done, I put down her baggage and booked a ticket home to ME.

Once all the shame, guilt, anger, and "Why is she like this?!?" gave way to a peace younger me never knew was possible, I started teaching my method to any and everyone who would listen.

What People Are Saying

"The guilt and constantly second-guessing myself are gone!"

Since joining Breakthrough, I've gone from thinking about my emotionally abusive mom literally all the time to barely even thinking of her at all. That chapter of my life is over. The guilt and constantly second-guessing myself are gone! If you're on the fence about the course, do yourself a favor and buy it. You won't regret it.

"My only regret is not doing this sooner."

All that time I was spending trying to figure out what was wrong with my mom–Is she a covert narcissist? Is she emotionally immature?–was time I wasn't spending with my partner and my kids. It was consuming my life! Then Stephi showed me a better way. Total game-changer! My only regret is not doing this sooner.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I live on the opposite side of the world. Will scheduling sessions be challenging?
Not at all! I regularly work with clients from all over the globe, so scheduling around different time zones is something I'm really used to.
  • How will we connect for sessions?
Lots of things are easier in the 21st century, and your counseling should be, too! We’ll connect for your counseling sessions securely via phone or video call, whichever you prefer. Because we are meeting remotely you can attend your sessions from the comfort of wherever you are. I have met with busy clients from their homes, backyards, offices, cars, and even the airport.
  • I live nearby. Can we meet in person for sessions?
No. I work with all my clients virtually. While some do miss being in-person, most of my clients have expressed how much they appreciate the convenience of not needing to spend time in traffic and the cost-savings of no longer paying for parking.
  • Will you ever bill or communicate with my insurance company?
I am committed to providing ethical care. I will never share your personal information with your insurance company or communicate with them in any way. I'm a private pay provider.
  • How many sessions do I need?
Everyone is different. Some people need only a single session whereas some need ongoing support for as much as a year or more. On average, the majority of my clients need 12 sessions, which is why I have designed my Seasons to include this many sessions.
  • How do I know I need counseling for my mother wound?
This is a really personal decision, and everyone’s situation is a bit different. A good rule of thumb I tell people is this: When your daily life is being impacted by negative feelings or thoughts about your mom for more than one hour per day, your mental health is suffering, and/or your challenges with your mom/your pain from the past are negatively impacting your relationships or your ability to parent, work, or care for yourself emotionally or physically, it’s time to reach out for mother wound counseling.
  • Can I meet with you before deciding to work with you for a Season?
Absolutely! I also offer Single Sessions and Trios. Those are great options for anyone who wants to start slow.
  • What is a Lifeline?
A Lifeline is a use-it-when-you-need-it mini counseling session with me that takes place over the phone. They last for 20-minutes, and I guarantee being able to schedule you in for one within 24-hours or less. Ever wanted to have a counselor in your back pocket? Now’s your chance!
